Police arrest five after finding fentanyl, cocaine during Chatham bust

Five Chatham residents are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police found weapons, drugs, and cash during a search on Park Street in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said members of the Intelligence Unit and the Emergency Response Team carried out the warrant at a residence on Park Street on Wednesday.

During their search, officers reported finding a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and cocaine.

Police said the drugs the officers seized have an estimated street value of $81,000.

Officers also reported finding some packaging material, some digital scales, and a large quantity of cash along with two BB guns, a taser, and a collapsible baton.

Five people were arrested in the case, but none of their names were released to the public.

A 27-year-old man, a 29-year-old man, a 34-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman, and a 42-year-old woman are all charged with various offences including unauthorized possession of a banned weapon and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The 29-year-old man was also charged with possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and possession knowing that its possession is unauthorized.

All five of the individuals were taken to police headquarters where they were set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
