Busy long weekend for city police

Sarnia police officers were kept busy over the Easter long weekend.

At around 10:20 p.m. Friday, police stopped a cyclist on Cobden Street near Mitton Street, who was violating conditions of his release including a curfew.

Police allegedly seized two flick knives and break and enter tools including a pry bar, binoculars, cable cutters, a file, multi-tool, and various pliers.

A 28-year-old man was held on bail on possession of break in instruments and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

At around 2:37 a.m. Friday, officers were called about an impaired driver in the area of Exmouth Street and Earlscourt Drive.

The accused was arrested, and police said he provided two breath samples almost three times the legal limit.

Police said he was also in possession of a small quantity of illegal narcotics.

The 34-year-old man is charged with impaired operation and drug possession.

On Saturday night, at around 9:20 p.m., a man was arrested for allegedly urinating in the backyard of a Davis Street residence.

Police said they found the suspect a short time later, standing on a front walkway at a residence on College Avenue.

It's alleged he was acting erratically and became combative which forced officers to use a conducted energy weapon to make the arrest.

A 39-year-old man is charged with trespassing by night and three counts of breaching probation.
