OLG issues first quarter payments to Sarnia, Point Edward

Sarnia and Point Edward have cashed in more money with the latest gaming revenue from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

OLG announced its first quarter payments on Friday for the period of April 1 to June 30, 2024.

The City of Sarnia received $108,801 for hosting Gateway Casinos at Hiawatha Horse Park. Since Gateway Casino opened on London Line in May 1999, Sarnia has generated $27,771,718.

The Village of Point Edward received $441,729 for hosting Starlight Casino.

Since the gaming facility opened its doors in April 2000, Point Edward has received $52,633,782.

"OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation," read a statement from the Crown corporation. "Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province."

OLG said the payments are based on a formula, using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
